Madison Beer started her fame at a young age, and now at 25, she continues to produce music. Recently, she released “Make You Mine”, a song about an obsession with a crush.
The song starts out with a nervousness that feels like when someone is around their crush. Then, Madison uses stereotypes of young crushes to introduce the idea of the song. She talks about always thinking about them and hanging pictures of them on the walls. This could be normal to some depending on how close they are, but from lyrics later on, the two in this song are not close as one has to get close to the other in order to make it hard to resist each other.
This song possibly has the take of liking the experience of having a crush. The lyrics, “I wanna feel the rush” and “I wanna string you out” are evidence of this. These lyrics say that the singer wants to feel something that she does not have, which could relate to being in a relationship, but because the second line of the chorus mentions the feelings of having a crush, she most likely means that rather than being in a relationship. Because the instrumental becomes more layered as the chorus goes on, it is also possible that it depicts the crushing becoming deeper and more obsessed with someone.
Multiple meanings can be taken out of this song, but Madison does a great job at depicting how deep an obsession can get. Her fans are excited to hear of what is to come in Madison’s career.
