A few weeks ago, he released a new song titled, “Eyes Wide”, which he will sing while he is on tour throughout the UK. This post will analyze the lyrics of this song.
For the first verse, Alfie sings about how being in love makes him want to dance and how everything seems bright in the world. This person he is singing about makes him love the town he lives in just because they're in it. He compares his love for music to this person which makes sense since as a singer, he loves music.
If I am being honest, the prechorus is still confusing to me. This part is more about heartbreak than the rest of the song, but I think it is saying “what if”. It is about thinking of the future. Alfie sings about letting this person know if they need a break. Maybe it means he is good at communicating issues and coming up with solutions to them.
In the chorus, Alfie sings about loving this person more and more every day and how he wants to meet their eyes.
One thing I like about the second verse is how he compares his thoughts about this person to queued up songs. He sings about how this person is all he thinks about and how there is no escape from them. The thoughts run through his head one by one like songs queued up that are one right after another.
